Nuke is one of the most challenging and tactical maps in Counter-Strike 2. Both sides, Terrorists (T) and Counter-Terrorists (CT), must master the placement of smoke grenades to control key areas of the map. For the T, smoke grenades are important for launching attacks and blocking visibility, while the CTs use them to delay attacks and block key paths. Below we’ve compiled five popular smoke grenade spots for both T and CT that will help improve your game on Nuke.
Smoke Grenades for the T side on Nuke
- Smokes to go to the outside zone (Red and Garage) The outside zone in Nuke is key to controlling the map. T’s will often throw smoke grenades to move from T-spawn to Secret without being spotted by snipers in Garage or Heaven.
- How to Throw: To perform a smoke on Red, stand in the center of the fence and aim at the right handle on the left side of the blue box. After leveling up, perform a jump throw.
For the second smoke, go to the crate you used for the first smoke and stand in the right corner. Then look up in the direction where the wires intersect and, while aligned, throw the grenade with a left click. This method takes practice to avoid gaps between the fumes and provide full coverage for your strategy.
- Why it’s effective: It takes away the CTs’ visibility and keeps them guessing whether you’re going Secret, splitting up to go to Heaven, or staying on the Outside.
- Smoke on Garage The smoke on Secret complements the smoke on the outer zone, making it harder for CTs to spot you as you descend the ramp.
- How to throw: To perform this smoke, stand at the right side of the T-spawn exit and aim at the middle pipe on the silo, then align with the second ring on top of the silo. After leveling up, perform a jump roll. Smoke will fall in front of Secret, effectively blocking the visibility of any players inside.
- Why it’s effective: This allows your team to safely capture the B-site or create a fake attack on the A-site.
- Smoke on Heaven for A-Site To capture an A-Site, you need smoke on Heaven, which blocks the visibility of CTs holding positions on Heaven or in the Ladder Room.
- How to cast: To execute this smoke, climb to the roof of the Lobby and stand on the pipe near the silo. Aim your sights at the third line from the left on the railing, then raise your sights to align with the railing support. Once aligned, throw smoke with a left click, effectively blocking the sight.
- Why this is effective: This deprives the CT of important sighting positions, making the A-site offense much safer.
- Smoke on Main Entrance Smoke on Main (also known as the big garage) helps when your team is conducting an attack on the A-site. It blocks the CT’s view from the garage area.
- How to cast: To engage the smoke on Outside Main/Mini from the Red position on the T-side, stand in front of the fence behind the blue box. Look at the bottom wire toward Mini and take two steps with a jog before throwing.
- Why this is effective: This prevents the KT from looking out on the A-side from Main, and you can run the A-side attack unopposed.
- Smoke on top of Silo to control the Yard Smoke on top of the silo can prevent CTs from using this elevation to observe or snipe your team.
- How to Throw: Stand between the pipe and the dumpster in T-spawn, point at the wire under the vent, and perform a jump throw.
- Why it’s effective: This setup allows you to use early and effective smoke to block visibility on Main/Mini, giving your team safer control of the outdoor area, saving time over traditional methods.
- Smoke on Secret
- How to cast: To execute Smoke on Secret to control the outer zone on Nuke, stand at the right side of the exit of the T-Spawn. Aim your scope at the middle pipe on the silo, then aim it at the second ring on top of the silo. Then perform a jump roll and the smoke will fall in front of the Secret, blocking the visibility of anyone inside.
- Why it’s effective: Smoke on Secret is a powerful utility to take control of the outside zone on Nuke, especially if you don’t want to switch to B. It blocks the visibility of enemies watching from Secret, allowing you to safely move to A via Mini, attack the CT Spawn, or even bypass the ramp to B.
Smoke for the CT side on Nuke
- Smoke on the outside area (Yard control) One of the best ways to control the outside area is to block the Yard near the Red Container. This allows CT to block the view of T’s who are trying to infiltrate Secret or take control of the Garage.
- How to cast: Stand next to the Garage or Mini and point the smoke towards the Red Container.
- Why it’s effective: This forces the T to either pass through the smoke or wait, delaying their takeover of control of the outside area.
- Smoke on Squeaky Door To stop a quick attack on the A-site, the smoke grenade on Squeaky Door is very effective. It prevents the T from getting through the door quickly and disrupts their plans to attack the A-site.
- How to Throw: From the A-Site, throw the smoke towards the Squeaky Door.
- Why it’s effective: It slows down or completely prevents a quick attack on the A-Site, making it difficult to see and forcing the T to reconsider their plans.
- Smoke on Hut If the T’s are preparing to attack the A-side from Hut, smoke on this route may force them to rethink their strategy or delay timing.
- How to throw: Stand close to Heaven or on the rungs and throw smoke towards Hut.
- Why it’s effective: This prevents T from going through Hut quickly and gives your team to focus on other potential entry points like Squeaky or Main.
- Smoke on Ramp Blocking Ramp at the start of a round is a common tactic to delay a T attack on a B-site or create a fake focus on an A-site.
- How to throw: Stand behind the Ramp and point the smoke towards the entrance.
- Why it’s effective: This forces the T to slow down an attack on the B or take alternate routes through the Lobby or outside area.
By mastering these smokes on both the T and CT side on Nuke, you will greatly improve your ability to control the map and outplay your opponents. Whether it’s executing a site attack for the T or defending critical areas for the CT, these smokes give you the tools to dominate the game. Remember, coordination and timing are key elements to maximizing the effectiveness of these smokes, so practice and communicate with your team for success.

Learning these smoke spots was a game-changer for me! Mastering the outside zone smokes gave our team a huge advantage on T-side. Definitely worth practicing to perfect the throw angles!
GarageGuard
The smoke on Garage is essential for T-side. It’s saved me from snipers so many times. Once you get it down, it’s like having a safety shield for your entire team.

These CT-side smokes are super helpful for slowing down rushes. The Squeaky Door smoke especially buys so much time. If you’re a CT main, learning these spots is a must.

The way smokes change Nuke’s dynamics is insane. The Heaven smoke alone can make or break a push. Perfect for catching CTs off-guard when they’re holding A-site.

I wish I’d learned these smokes sooner. Controlling Yard on CT side has been a huge improvement in my game. It really disrupts the T’s game plan and slows them down effectively.
